I believe in the importance of cooperation (as long been argued by anarchists). Except for those that believe in and call for complete self-sustainability, voluntary cooperation has been seen as the only way to replace the State; or rather, that the State has replaced the 'natural law' of voluntary cooperation.

Peter Kropotkin, in Mutual Aid, makes perhaps the most compelling account of this 'natural law' as he details cooperation, not competition as the basis of successful evolution. This idea of cooperation through voluntary associations has long since been expanded upon and rehashed. Emma Goldman writes, In…Mutual Aid, Kropotkin shows that in the animal kingdom, as well as in human society, co-operation…[not] strife and struggle-has worked for the survival and evolution of the species….only mutual aid and voluntary co-operation-not the omnipotent, all-devastating State-can create the basis for a free individual and associational life.

I believe that capitalism, and its emphasis on competition and greed, is wrong. I believe that capitalism as an economic system not only promotes, but thrives on, economic inequality. In many ways the present capitalist economic system stresses the opposite of human values it demands that people take a me-first attitude, competing fiercely to achieve their own individual security…at the expense of others.

Good is something far greater than the depths of science could analyze; it is a furor that takes root, not in the mind, but in the soul [heart]. And no matter what your intelligence, keeping in the soul and not in the mind is the only way goodness can remain true.
