Nonsmokers tend to think just that smokers should consider more about them, but they also should understand smokers.@ Some companies tried prohibiting their employees from smoking. Thanks to this attempt, the air in these companies became clean and nonsmokers were glad, though the number of smokers who left work to smoke increased. What do you think of this attempt? Is it indeed rational?

Some nonsmokers propose that smoking should be banned in all public places, because tobacco, especially secondhand smoke, is no good for our health. @Though I hate smoke and I know smoke sometimes causes cancer and asthma, I canft possibly assent to this proposal because about fifty percent of men and ten percent of women in Japan smoke. That is to say about thirty percent of the population is smoking. Most of them can release their stress by the grace of smoking and it is one of their pleasures, and furthermore, itfs one of their habits. Is there anything we should do before we contemplate how to forbid smoking?

In Japan, education of smoking harm has begun in elementary school since 18 and in junior high school since 184. This means people over thirty years old were never able to get a good education of tobacco. They were, rather, taught that smoking was cool, so smoking became one of their habits. It is easy for us to tell them that they should give up smoking but it is very difficult for them to do so though they know smoking is no good for their health. So the government should equip children with a good enough education of tobacco so as not to increase the number of smokers.

Certainly, recent smokersf manners are bad. For instance, some of them smoke without scruples while they are walking and therefore nonsmokers come to smoke unwillingly. Then they offer the plan like prohibition against smoking in all public places. However itfs too severe, so I suggest we make smoking rooms in all public places. Of course it is not open, but completely closed. Itfs better to put machines like air cleaners to separate smoke and clean air in the room.

Write my Essay on Let's Think about Coexistence of Smokers and Nonsmokers for me

Technology is improving day by day. Though these machines are expensive and not well known now, they will be cheaper in the future and it will be possible to put them in all public places. And it ought to be also possible that we invent cigarettes which do not emit harmful secondhand smoke. Affording to improve vending machines of tobacco, scientists should strive for creating something that is more useful to solve the problem of smoking harm.

Naturally, there are a variety of people in society and each of them has his or her own ideas. We have to have respect for each other to live together. We can say the case of tobacco problem is the same as it, canft we? Smokers and nonsmokers should understand each otherfs position and coexist. In fact, nonsmokers need smokersf cooperation for the sake of reducing the number of smokers. We often think only about our own position, so letfs take other positions into consideration. Then you can change tracks.

Who is a hero? What is a hero? These questions can have many different answers. Many different people look at hero in different ways and different perspectives. Each person might have their own unique definition of a hero. To me, no definition is the wrong one of a hero. A hero can be a person that someone knows or someone that they have never met before, but someone they would like to meet, then it also can be someone that is not real at all. I am going to give you my definition of a hero and what it means to me first and then a dictionary definition of a hero. Hero is someone that a person looks up to and most of the time always there to depend on. It is someone that can affect another person in a good way. A hero can do so much as to change a person's life and how they see things. There is so much different ways to explain a hero, but I think these factors are the main description of a hero. The dictionary definition of a hero is a mythological or legendary figure often of divine descent endowed with great strength or ability b an illustrious warrior c a man admired for his achievements and noble qualities d one that shows great courage a the principal male character in a literary or dramatic work b the central figure in an event, period, or movement. You can see there is a difference between my definition of a hero and what the dictionary states is a hero. The dictionary concentrates on more powerful and more recognized figures, rather then just a simple person that changes another person's life. I think many people do think of a hero as a person of high power. I do not agree with that, I think a person can be any one in particular person that affects another person in a good way.

In this book a "Lesson Before Dying" written by Ernest Gaines talks about how a black community deals with the every day pressures of racism of the white community. This book is telling a story about a black young male (Jefferson) that is accused of murdering a white male store keeper, Jefferson was the only one alive after the shooting in the store. Jefferson was then put on trail where the all white jury found him guilty of murder. While this trail was going on there was something said that made this story become a book. Jefferson's own lawyer had called him a "hog" (7). In this trail his own defense degraded Jefferson in front of the jury, saying "this face as flat as the palm of my hand" and "I would call it a boy and a fool" (7). Then after the trail Jefferson was put in jail. His godmother (Miss Emma) was determined to make her boy a man before he died in the electric chair. So she talked to the teacher of the plantation, Mr. Grant Wiggins. She wanted him to teach him how to be a man. Miss Emma and Grant's aunt both told him he had to do this. So during this process they had to get permission from the sheriff to see Jefferson and they had to go though a lot of humiliation to see Jefferson. Grant had to wait in the house to see the sheriff for two and a half hours waiting for them to decide whether Grant could see Jefferson. For Grant that was a lot of humiliation to his own race. Well Grant started visiting Jefferson and tried to communicate with him. He called himself, "I'm a old hog" (8), disgracing his race. Then it just goes on to tell about the many visits Grant has with Jefferson. I think the silence between the two are a important part in the visits, they seem to communicate though silence and I consider Jefferson as teaching Grant some lessons about his life and how he should look at things differently. Finally at the end of the book, Jefferson finally gets a date for his execution. Grant could not be there, he was not strong enough and it tells at the end how a guy that worked in the jail (Paul) said "tell them he was the bravest man in that room." (56) But during all these visits and time between Grant saw one person that he loved so much and that was Vivian. She I think is the real hero in this whole book, even though she is not talked about so much as the other characters in this book.

I really consider Vivian to be the real hero in this book. She puts her faith and encourages Grant to visit Jefferson. She keeps Grant faith in Jefferson. She encourages him to do this for Jefferson and himself. Grant was not a religious man, he did not believe in God. Also, he had no faith in his teaching and he knew that he could never change or affect anyone's life. "I could never stay long angry long over anything. But I could never believe in anything, either, for very long" (15). It would always be the same, nothing would change. Blacks would go on being humiliated and not be as good as the white community. Vivian is one of the people that I think changed the way Grant looked at things after he went to see Jefferson and he was finally put to death. All Grant's life, he was taught that anything he did would not do any good. I think Vivian gave him the strength to go on and continue to see Jefferson and continue to teach in the plantation. Grant wanted so bad to leave that place, but for some reason he could not. The main reason to me why he could not leave was because of Vivian, she was still married and had kids and until the divorce went though she could not leave the plantation. That's what kept Grant going and to stay there. She put faith in him and that is what made Grant change Jefferson the little time he had with him to transform him into the man he really was, both Jefferson and Grant. I think Grant has a new perspective on life now since all this is over and I think he has started to believe, all because of Vivian. Vivian made him go see Jefferson and I think she knew that it would help him out in the future for his sake too.

bad if somebody were to say it, but maybe a select few could think aboutWrite my Essay on essay on love and happiness cheap

Love is defined in the dictionary as- A deep, tender, ineffable feeling of

affection and solicitude toward a person, such as that arising from kinship,

recognition of attractive qualities, or a sense of underlying oneness. An

intense emotional attachment, as for a pet or treasured object. Often used as

a term of endearment. What does all of that mean? Well to sum it all up love

is a important commitment you make to someone or something that you

truly care about. Not only does it stand for that, it's also a word that tells

someone how much you like them or that you want to have a future with

them.

Despite all of the different ways that you could use the word it still

stands for one thing, your personal feelings. Whether it be your mother and

father or your future husband, it is a word that describes affection and

admiration. When ever you have love happiness is sure to follow. The

definition of happiness in the dictionary is- showing that one is delighted, and

shows pleasure and joy. Therefor you can conclude that love and happiness

Quote 1 'Napoleon was a large, rather fierce-looking Berkshire boar, the only Berkshire on the farm, not much of a talker, but with a reputation of getting his way.'

Right from the beginning of the rebellion, the pigs can be seen to be dominating over the other animals and abusing their power. Even when Snowball was there, this exploitation was happening.

The story changes when Snowball was chased away.

Napoleon announced his leadership straight after he set ferocious dogs after Snowball, and so the animals were traumatized and this was the ideal time for no one would oppose him when in a state of shock and terror.Cheap College Papers on animal farm

With no strong opponent left to defy his regime, Napoleon was free to do what he wanted and he used force to do this.

The silly animals adopted the phrase Quote Napoleon is always right.

Allowing, without reprimand, the pigs to get up late, dine from Jones' diner service, live in the farmhouse and to sleep on beds showed how unconcerned or worse powerless, the animals were.

The animals wasted much time building the windmill when they should have been harvesting crops for food in the belief that Napoleon was right. They worked to exhaustion for the false promises and the visions of a better life.

Napoleon gave himself the credit for every good thing such as the building of the windmill, winning the war against humans and fancy titles such as Terror of Mankind, and Protector of Sheepfold.

The executions in chapter seven show clearly that the animals surrendered to the increase in the power of Napoleon in a blind manner.

Quote . . . the tale of confessions and executions went on, until there was a pile of corpses lying before Napoleons feet.

Napoleon outlawed 'Beasts of England' which served as the only memory of Old Major, his views and the rebellion and instead eulogized himself through a poem written describing his great hollow deeds. This was a malicious use of propaganda and was very effective with Squealer's alluring talk.

While the animals bitterly starved, Napoleon sent Squealer to tell them false information and lies about their memories and about Snowball by painting him as the destroyer of the windmill which was the symbol of progress for the animals. This added to his power for what better job can a leader do than to discriminate a criminal.

Quote 4 Whenever anything went wrong, it became usual to attribute it to Snowball.

Napoleon stopped showing in public and had security all the time around him like a king. He had made himself inaccessible, a vital step towards ultimate power.

Napoleon changed in a big way at the end, and shed off the false character of being a leader of animals and became a human. The humans themselves degraded into pigs. If the story were continued, then eventually Napoleon would have got get kicked out and it would all happen again.

Was this inevitable?

The rebellion was doomed to fail from the beginning because

1. Many animals didnt have sufficient education to know what happened on the farm.

. They didnt realize they were being manipulated because they were so stupid.

With the help of Squealer's 'smooth-talking', the blank character of Boxer saying Quote 5 "I will work harder", the puppet-like sheep, the ferocious dogs, the uneducated and ignorant animals and Benjamin, the donkey who would never stand up against him, Napoleon had absolute power and absolute power corrupts everybody.

Business and International Accounting

Over the years business has crossed boundaries, spanned over land and ocean, and generally changed the world. As business continues to evolve more broadly on a worldwide level, an introduction of new products, new jobs, and new ways of operating in the business world has occurred. This evolution does not occur without certain complexities developing, which then fuels a search for more effective ways to be successful worldwide. A major impact is in the accounting policies and methods used by companies operating international subsidiaries. Through a better understanding of international accounting and its affect on a company headquartered in two different countries, these troublesome issues with respect to becoming successful worldwide becomes clear.

Accounting encounters more challenges when entering the international arena. Foreign subsidiaries introduce issues of translation, transaction, and exchange rates. Through exploration of the Federal Accounting Standard 5 Foreign Currency Translation, a better understanding of these three issues becomes apparent. Translation deals with taking one currency such as the U.S. dollar, and translating it into another currency such as the British Pound, for reporting purposes. This represents one of the main difficulties in international accounting - preparing consolidated financial statements when a company has foreign subsidiaries that are included. FAS 5 explains foreign currency translation as, "The process of expressing in the reporting currency of the enterprise those amounts that are denominated or measured in a different currency" (FAS, Appendix E).

The transactions deal with the second main difficulty in international accounting, which includes how to account for purchases and sales that are made with foreign currency. FAS 5 explains foreign currency transactions as, "Transactions whose terms are denominated in a currency other that the entity's functional currency. Foreign currency transactions arise when an enterprise buys or sells on credit goods or services whose prices are denominated in foreign currency, borrows or lends funds and the amounts payable or receivable are denominated in foreign currency, is a party to an unperformed forward exchange contract or for other reasons acquires or disposes of assets, or incurs or settles liabilities denominated in foreign currency" (Appendix E).

Finally, exchange rates are the last big issue in international accounting. Currency values fluctuate from country to country and from day to day. The weight of the currency is mainly reliant on economic and political stability of that country. This brings about the need to calculate how much one currency is worth compared to another.

"The current exchange rate is the rate at which one unit of currency can be exchanged for another currency. For purposes of translation of financial statements, the current exchange rate is the rate as of the end of the period covered by the financial statements or as of the dates of recognition in those statements in the case of revenues, expenses, gains, and losses" (Appendix E).

Operations and transactions of a company are affected by the changing prices of goods and services it buys and sells comparable to a particular currency, which may also be used for financial reporting. If the company operates in more than one currency, it is affected by the changing prices of goods and services in more than one economic environment, and changes in values of the different units of currency. This can bring about gains and losses due to exchange rate differences.

One route companies take to guard against losses is forward exchange contracts which are, "an agreement to exchange at a specified future date currencies of different countries at a specified rate" (Appendix E). Also the use of currency swaps, "an exchange between two enterprises of the currencies of the two different countries agree to re-exchange the two currencies at the same rate of exchange at a specified future date" (Appendix E). These issues may be hard to understand just in reading them. By using a specific example of a company dealing with international accounting these issues become much clearer.

To make the complexities of international accounting more transparent, we will use DaimlerChrysler as an example. Some background information will prove useful in further explanations of International issues. On May 7th 18 a worldwide announcement was made about the merger of DaimlerBenz and Chrysler. These two combined to form the world's leading automotive, transportation, and financial services company. This merger brought two different companies and two different worlds together, one headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany, and the other in Auburn Hills, Michigan. The merger has linked two countries together but not without difficulties and differences. Much of what was formally Chrysler territory began to be taken over by the Daimler side, which was greatly aided by the stepping down of Robert Eaton of Chrysler, leaving only one Chairman of the Board, Jurgen E. Schrempp. This merging of companies may be successful in some areas but not without challenges to overcome to be successful in worldwide competition.

Through an interview with Robert E. Menzies, Assistant Controller for Chrysler Brands and Canada at DaimlerChrysler Services I was introduced to the issues of international accounting that really affect the business. The first thing that they have to deal with is the differences in the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles between Germany and the United States. These differences have created different problems with reporting. But it is not only Germany that poses a problem for the United States in terms of GAAP but also Canada and Mexico. DaimlerChrysler Services deals with all of North America and includes Canada and Mexico. DaimlerChrysler consists of 470 German and non-German subsidiaries and one joint venture. 10 of these companies are accounted for in the consolidated financial statements using the equity method of accounting. When consolidated financial statements are made for DaimlerChrysler's annual report they are prepared in terms of U.S. GAAP and also to comply with certain German requirements. "The consolidated financial statements were prepared in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles in the United States of America. The consolidated financial statements were supplemented with a consolidated business review report, which comply with the fourth and seventh directives of the European community. For the interpretation of these directives we relied on the statement by the German Accounting Standards Committee" (Annual Report, 68).

The reporting currency for DaimlerChrysler is the Euro, but in the annual report the amounts are also shown in U.S. dollars, "The dollar being unaudited and presented solely for the convenience of the reader at a rate of 1 Euro = $0.801 the Noon Buying Rate of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York on December 1, 001" (78).

DaimlerChrysler is also concerned with accounting for translation and transactions. As Mr. Menzies explained, they must first take the different currencies in North America and translate them into the U.S. dollar. So translation entails taking the Mexican peso and the Canadian dollar and converting it into the U.S. dollar. Then they must take the translations they have in U.S. dollars and translate them into the Euro, which is the reporting currency for the financial statements.

The way that DaimlerChrysler deals with foreign exchange rates is also something we need to look at. Foreign exchange rate management is something a company like DaimlerChrysler needs to think about, since their business produces cash in various currencies. Mr. Menzies also informed me of the difference in practices between the German and U.S. sides of the company. In terms of foreign exchange rate on the American side, they use a month end average of exchange rates, which was expected to be good enough for reporting on the balance sheet.

A problem arose when translating these figures to match up with Germany. Part of the German GAAP is using an average daily rate, so there are 65 different foreign exchange rates that are averaged together rather then the month end average method. Because these differences cause so much extra work and confusion at Chrysler they have now actually changed over to German GAAP and use their exchange rates to prevent the extra time it was previously taking to reconcile the financial statements.

DaimlerChrysler does use some derivative financial instruments like forward foreign exchange contracts, swaps, and forward rate agreements to help control losses in changes in exchange rates. As a consequence of the global nature of DaimlerChrysler businesses, its operations and its reported financial results and cash flows are exposed to the risks associated with fluctuations in the exchange rates of the U.S. dollar, the Euro and other world currencies. The group's businesses are exposed to transaction risk whenever revenues of a business are denominated in a currency other than the currency in which the business incurs the costs relating to those revenues.

As we have seen through the example of DaimlerChrysler international issues do have a great affect on the business and accounting for the company. We have seen that it can sometimes become confusing in dealing with different regulations and different currency for so many companies. These difficulties will hopefully reduce as the International Accounting Standards Committee works towards global accounting that plans to be out in the next 5 to 6 years. This will help many issues that companies with foreign subsidiaries face, but until then companies will continue to work through what issues they have to compete successfully on the worldwide stage.

Lincoln and Kennedy

Heres a little part of US history which makes you go h-m-m-m

Have a history teacher explain this if they can?

John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 146.

Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860.

John F. Kennedy was elected President in 160.

The names Lincoln and Kennedy each contain seven letters.

World Cup

Brazil last won the world cup in 14. Before that they won it in 170. Add 170 and 14, it equals 64.

Germany last won in 10. Before that they won in 174. Add 10 and 174, it equals 64.

Argentina last won the world cup in 186. Before that they won it in 178. Add 178 and 186, it equals 64.

So going by this logic, The winner of the 00 world cup is the same as the 64 - 00 = 16 world cup. The 16 world cup was won by Brazil. It was really Brazil who won!!!

Some lions mate over 50 times a day. (I still want to be a pig in my next life...quality over quantity)

The Constitution vs. The Articles of Confederation

Our country has always had its way of Government and pertaining factors based on a written compellation of the way the country should be run. The first document that the country was run by was called The Articles of Confederation. The Articles of Confederation were instated by Congress, November 15, 1777 and were in effect until March 1, 1781. The Articles of Confederation were then ensued the document that the United States of America have since been established and run by. This document is entitled simply The Constitution of The United States of America, adopted July , 1788, but wasn't in effect until March 4, 178.

The Articles of Confederation was the first government of the United States. It had a weak central government and the basic democracy was based on State control. Although the states had strong control it didn't necessarily bring unity to the whole country. In having a weak central government it made the country susceptible to having no central command. There was no standing army, instead the states had militia. This idea of government had some good qualities but most of them lead for an unorganized country where the central government had to ask the states for taxes and such.Order Custom Essay on The Constitution vs. The Articles of Confederation

The Constitution came about when people began to rebel under the State control. There were several little rebellions which made the need of a new form of government apparent. In 1787 a committee formed to create a new from of government. This committee met from may to September of that year debating on the ideas of a new government. Different plans for a government were brought up but they all had fundamental flaws. Finally Benjamin Franklin came up with the Great Compromise which stated that the upper house of Congress (The Senate) should have equal representation from the states while the lower house (The House of Representatives) should have representation according to size and population. It took awhile for the thirteen states to finally agree to this but they, the representation of the states in committee finally signed as the new document of government on September 17, 1787. After The Constitution was agreed upon there were ten amendments made which formed a document which is now referred to as The Bill of Rights.

The Constitution and The Articles of Confederation are a like in some ways but in others are widely different. Some of the basic ideas form the Articles of Confederation influenced The Constitution and The Bill of Rights such as Articles of Confederation Article and the First Amendment in the Bill of Rights. The Constitution goes through the parts of government in great detail. The focus of The Constitution is on having a strong central government and less state power which is the direct opposite of the basis of The Articles of Confederation.

The Constitution has been in effect since then and has only had seventeen amendments made since the first ten. It's interesting to think that our country and the way we function as a whole is based on a document written in the 1700's. This document is well formulated and is definitely effective..

This essay discusses the strategic role of Information Technology in business management and its global implication. This essay further discusses evolution of business and information technology systems. Use of the internet has helped business to make a strong impact on the globe. Information technology has changed the global organizational structures. Information technology helps achieve the organizational goals and objectives in different ways. The discussion elaborates upon the uses of Information Technology in different management functions. Technology effects an organization's productivity, cost-effectiveness and ability to influence the society.

To discuss the effect of technology on business, let us first discuss the evolution of businesses and management systems. In ancient times, the business involved more face-to-face conversations. The societies were small; people knew each other and exchanged goods and services. The type of business was bartering. Then currencies came and the function of businesses changed. The businesses were not the exchange of goods, but about buying and selling of goods and services. A major development occurred with the industrial revolution, which brought in mass production and mass marketing. This brought in the demand for specialized and skilled people. All these developments progressively changed the organizational structures and functions (Levine, Locke, Searls and Weinberger, 000).

In the recent times we have seen the technology advancing at a faster pace. For instance, it required 50 years to commercialize telephones but it only took five years (Amor, 00) for the internet to be common. There were few multi-national companies prior to the advent of internet. The internet has provided younger companies to do e-business and grow globally. It took many years for the companies, such as GE (founded in 18, with its market value of 8 in 1), IBM (founded in 111, with its market value of in 1), Wal-Mart (founded in 16, with its market value of 11) to reach their present positions. On the other hand, the relatively young companies using e-business, either reached or surpass the old blue chip companies. For example, Microsoft (founded in 181, with a market value of 48), Lucent (founded in 15, with a market value of 0) and Cisco (founded in 184, with a market value of 0). In 15, the number of public internet companies was four; in 000 the number was 16. The combined market value rose from $1. billion to $451. billion. This indicates the number of companies in creased 40 times. In addition, the combined market value of these companies increased 00 times.(Wilson, 1). This depicts the strategic role of information technology to increase the investment in businesses and their globalization.

For the purpose of illustration, let us take Ford Company. It uses Information Technology in all its important management functions. The Information Technology Department has three core groups Process and Technology Group, Application Development Services and Information Technology Infrastructure Group. "The PTG is responsible for knowing the business and the technology, and identifying opportunities to improve both. Our departments are Manufacturing & Supply Chain Systems, Product Development Systems, Global Consumer Systems, and Management Systems." Similarly, the Application Development Services "is the engine behind our support of Ford Motor Company. We are responsible for software architecture, delivery, maintenance, and support across the life cycle." And "Information Technology Infrastructure is the framework that holds it all together." (Company Official Cite, 00). The senior management of the Ford Company looks towards the Information Technology Department to assist them right from the inception of a new vehicle through the entire product life cycle. The Information Technology department also provides backbone support to the suppliers and consumers. The Information Technology department does business process re-engineering and integrates the best practices to achieve the management's goals and objectives.

Let us do an analysis on our sample company. First, we find that information technology is an integral part of decision making within the management. However, the core business of the company is not information technology but we find extensive use of it. The senior management of the company starts business cycle of a product (a car for example) with the help of IT. The car is designed, simulated and test even before going to its production stage. IT department uses business process re-engineering to suit each new product by employing the best practices within the organization. The IT department is responsible, accountable and has multi tasking individuals. They know and understand the business practices of the organization. This leads to a matrix structure of the organization. This also indicates that Ford is able to achieve its objectives with less human resources. In this information era, companies with less people perform better because they are easier to manage. Since IT department is involved at every stage of the product life cycle, Ford is able to optimize the available resources. Ford is able to respond to the changing market conditions quickly because of the backbone support of the information technology department. Its sales and marketing, customer service and production departments can effectively communicate to reposition themselves in the changing market at a minimum possible time. (Ford's Official website, 00). The same applies to many other organizations that are using information technology for all of their important management decisions.

Technology is an "industrial arts" (Price, 16). It is not restricted to schools of engineering only. Technology is available in the society as well as people in the organization. Successful organizations cater to society needs using new and innovative technologies. Since the technology is available anywhere in the globe, successful organizations adapt them and increase their productivity.

Most of the organizations do not strategically manage technology. They fail on three accounts. First, they are unable to understand the status and trends of the technology for their competitive advantage. Second, they focus too much on product technologies but fail to focus on process technologies; especially the information technology for their business advantage. Lastly, they are unable to accurately assess the cost and time of converting market need into demand. Information technology demands companies and management to perform effectively and faster than their competitors (Price, 16). The main objective in the information technology is to deliver the services as soon as possible. Corporate people feel an urgency because of the increasing resource requirements for technological advancement. This same implies to the accelerating rate of global technology diffusion (Price, 16). At this moment in time, the management balances the complexities of people and technology; along with the goal of earning maximum profit.

Always when human beings live in present, there are perceptions regarding future. A primary concern among the people is where will these advancements of technology lead them? No one has the accurate answer to this. The future management would be more based upon the virtual employees (Armor, 00; Malhotra, 001; Perseus Publishing, 00). The speed at which the technology proceeds might make it harder for the businesses to decide on how to approach certain things. Technology will perhaps quickly outstretch human's ability to perform as effective as technology. Businesses, management and life require serious and quicker adaptations to change. In order to do these, people must understand that technology is the changing factor that is most responsive to creative styles in management action. It all boils down to the adaptation of technology in the profit of organization, people, profit of business and mainly the globalization of the company. Over the internet, the world has access to a single business. This builds closer relation with the customers and employees (Perseus Publishing, 00). Shopping online allows and provides the flexibility to customers of time to market. Putting the business on the net, will require less people to manage and therefore reduce the cost. An example of it can be seen in the type of a bank ING Direct. ING Direct only has its head offices; however, the transactions and other financial tasks are performed over the net. It is a neat way of attracting customers and lowering down the costs as well. On the contrary, the e-businesses might build some concerns. For instance, the channel conflict and increase in competition. Due to increase, a major concern is regarding customer acceptance and pricing. This leads us to the two types of businesses that will be common in future, such as, service providers and service developers (Armor, 00).

In the nutshell, the strategic role of information technology is evident from the beginning to the present and from present to the interpretation of the future. Now, every business uses technology in one form or the other to make the task easier and increase productivity. These changes lead to the infrastructure of the formation of business management. Due to this change, the organizational structures are changing to more of a matrix form. Since the businesses need to grow, they globalize. Now, the most effective way to globalize as we see in using the information technology. This is clear now that technology provides management the means for coping with the changes in the internal and external factors to achieve competitive success and the fact that the evolution of technology has certainly changed our view and life style of society.

The word "regendering" not only suggest the enormous transformations in gender roles, division of labor, social institutions such as marriage and the family, and investigation of the self and psyche that emerge; but also the literature that was partly responsible for shaping such transformations and giving people a shared vocabulary with which to name this changes. While "sex" refers to the biological differences between the female sex and the male sex, "gender" is a cultural term, a name for the ways that culture constructs genders as identities, and how those identities are then organized. It is of the human notion of what had been taken as a "natural" difference between the sexes with women as weaker, more irrational, less intellectual, more virtuous, lacking in sexual desire, designed by nature for maturity, incapable of leadership and most public professions came to be understood as the construction of gender, a state of affairs that was not innate, reinforced by culture; having made gender, it is believe that culture could also remake it. Having read Orlando and Mannequin, a great piece of work written by Virginia Woolf and Jean Ryhs. One could trace the origin of regendering and modernism of women issues as well as gender issues to this present day society. These writers have demonstrated great concern toward "sex" and the treatment of women around the world. I hope to use these two selections in making my critical analysis about the concern of these writers and also the problem they seem to be addressing and then make a final conclusion on the solution each of them present if any.

Firstly, they are all concern about the "sexes" and sex refers to the biological differences between the male sex and the female sex. Virginia Woolf gives a more elaborate detail about the gender politics because it was becoming something else in Orlando. Orlando was about the biography of a person who would not neatly die within one historical age, who would not produce documented accomplishment and about someone who would not conform to the sanctity of sexual identity. Her most concern was invalidating the assumption of her father's time, that gender identity is fixed, and that only great men create history, that literature is the work of the male genius, and that sexual desire, failure, and silence are to be feared. She used the story of Orlando to demonstrate the fact that there is really not much difference between a male and a female except for the clothes we wear which make a unique distinction between two sexes. She also said that clothes are but a symbol of something hid the deep beneath it, and had they both worn the same clothes, it is possible that the outlook might have been the same. She added that it is a change in the human mind that dictate our choice of dress and sex although this does not make a lot of sense reading between lines, but when looked beyond it ordinary meaning, one could see that it does make sense because both sexes possesses similar character and intellect regardless of what circumstances they might be facing. Virginia stated that the difference between sexes are intermix because they possess the same power to alter their gender by simply changing their way dressing and thinking looking at what happen to the main character in Orlando. Every human vacillation from one sex to the other takes place and often it is only clothes that keep the male or female likeness while underneath the sex is the very opposite of what it is above. After reading Orlando, I notice that her main point of view concerning sex is that there is little or no difference between a male or a female species because male and female characteristic are alike although we differ from when it comes to our precision about things such as emotions.

Secondly, both writers talk about the treatment and respect for women in the labor sector of the any economy. Virginia Woolf did not write much about the treatment and respect for women but she stood for equal treatment of all the human species. Jean Rhys had a lot to say about what she felt about the treatment of women as commodity. Her writing Mannequin was her way of expressing her inner most feelings about the treatment of women when it came to exploitation of women as goods bought and then resold for profit. Mannequin talks about the destitution of a young beautiful lady who went through a tough time after the death of her father. She left her home country for a better life abroad. To this dizzying sense of homelessness and alienation from place Rhys main concern was the trenchant consideration of the effect of displacement on women whose voices are silenced and to whom cultural authority was seldom granted. In her book Mannequin, it voices precisely the vertigo experienced by a young lady name Ann. She was thrown out into the world to make her way as a fashion model, experiencing the coldness of Europe after the rich friendship of her Caribbean home, feeling the disdain of the British for her outsider status, and suffering exploitation by the men and women who treat her like commodity that is a piece of beauty property to be bought and then sold back.

Conclusively, they all seem to be addressing the same problem although from different perspectives but still with the same common goal which is disregarding sex and treating everybody the same be you male or female, that we all deserve equal treatment and fairness. As for specific solutions to this problem, none of these writers wrote something about it.Cheap University Papers on Regrendering of Sexes and Equal Treatment

It is hard to choose a single song that best describes every emotion I was ever been confronted with. I was not about to find a song that happened to be my favorite at the moment. Music is everything to me and Lifehouse's, "Everything" describes who I am and who I always will be.

The chorus is, "How can I stand here by you without being moved by you?" This line expresses my emotions for any person I have ever encountered. Whether you have been influenced by a person in a positive or negative way, you still have been "moved by them" in some way. Your personal actions are influenced by the people you meet.

One other aspect is the romantic outlook this song reflects. Any questions that I have regarding relationships always seem to be answered within the lyrics. The longing I have had and the love that I once shared with someone wonderful is expressed in these lyrics.

I believe that everyone should have that one song that touches you every time you hear it. Everything influential about love and life has been captured within this one piece. I will share this song with anyone who has ever loved and who has been immensely affected by another human being.

managed to become one of the greatest black poets of the twentieth

century (Williams 1).

Angelou is a poet, an author, a historian, an actress, a

playwright, a civil-rights activist, a producer, and a director. Ms.

Angelou began her career in drama and dance, and she married a South

African freedom fighter and lived in Cairo. Later she also taught in

Ghana. In the 160s she said that being black, female, non-Muslim,

non-Arab, six foot tall, and American made for some interesting

experiences during her stay in Africa (Williams 1).

Ms. Angelou accomplished many things in her life. She was the

northern coordinator for the Southern Christian Leadership Conference

at the request of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. She was also appointed

to the Bicentennial Commission by President Gerald Ford, the National

Commission on the Observance of International Womens Year by Jimmy

Carter, and in 1 she wrote and delivered the presidential

inauguration for President Bill Clinton.

Maya Angelou is a decorated author. She has been nominated for

two Emmy awards and has won a Pulitzer Prize. She is also a highly

cultured person. She can speak English, French, Spanish, Italian, and

West African Fanti. And many of her poems can inspire people today.

Knowing something about Angelou's life can help one to understand her

poetry.

In one of Angelou's poems, "Unmeasured Tempo", she talks about a

person's life. How mind and body do not reach their apex at the same

time. By the time a person gets old enough to have a spiritual

realization of who they are their body is already declining (Angelou

11). This poem is written in blank verse. It does not have any rhyme

or rhythm. Yet it does use figurative language. For example, the

simile, "Dreams are petted like cherished lap dogs". This poem is

complex and makes the reader look for the deeper meaning in the poem

(Angelou 11).

Another one of Angelou's poems is "Little Girl Speakings" where

she once again writes autobiographically. It's a comparative poem

about the things important to Angelou in her childhood. She is

explaining to one of her peers that she has the best parents and the

best toys(Angelou 65). There are a lot of literary devices used in

this poem. The two most obvious ones are slang and repetition. The

phrases "Ain't nobody better's my daddy", "Ain't nothing prettier'n my

dollie", and "No lady cookinger than my mommy" are repeated in this

poem (Angelou 65). The rhyme scheme, ABBA, is simple yet unusual.

There are many words that rhyme like quauter and daughter, said and

head, and pie and lie (Angelou 65).

The Physician's Tale

This story was a fable. Apius, a judge, sees the beautiful Virginia and lusts for her. His accomplice Claudius, invents the story that Virginia is a thrall or slave, rather than Virginius daughter, and he has unlawfully stolen her from Claudius. Apius, the "judge" rules that Virginius must immediately turn over Virginia to Claudius. Virginius tells his daughter she has only two options, death or shame, and they decide that she should sooner die then meet this fate. He cuts off her head and presents it to Apius, who orders Virginius hanged. The mob prevents this and throws Apius in jail where he kills himself. Claudius is sentenced to hanging but Virginius asks the citizens to pardon him. The last line proclaims, "Forsake your sins before your sins forsake you."Buy The Physicians TaleThe Canterbury TAles term paper

I can kind of see how this line applies to Apius, who, for his evil doings, ended up in prison and committing suicide. Still, what about Claudius? He lied in a courthouse and the death of an innocent virgin was his fault. Those qualify as sins in my book. And though he never abandoned these sins, they didn't forsake him. Why does the moral of the tale only apply to one of the characters? Let's explore why Claudius seemed to be exempt from this punishment.

There is no specific prologue to the Physician's tale, but he is mentioned in the General Prologue. It is said that he was very educated in his field "The cause of every malady you'd got/ He knew, and whether dry, cold, moist or hot." Although he was very intuitive in detecting disease and ailments, he took advantage of his patients. He was in league with the local apothecary. It is implied that he would prescribe unnecessary medications and both he and the apothecary would benefit from this exploitation. In the Physician's Tale, Virginius has mercy on Claudius in the end, and when the people want to execute him, Virginius steps in and tells them not to. I wonder if since the physician has not always been completely honest, and gotten away with it, part of his message is that you can get away with wrong-doings and deceitfulness.

One of the requirements for this storytelling contest was to tell a tale with a moral. I think that the message he really wanted to get across is that being dishonorable is okay. He really was saying to everyone on the pilgrimage- "Look! Claudius, with all his sins, was pardoned and even an old pedophile like Apius was only thrown in jail, and not killed." I think he just slapped that moral about forsaking your sins on at the end so that it would seem like a moral tale. Although it kind of applies, judging from the physician's character, it seems that the moral "forsake your sins before your sins forsake you" isn't a great representation of what the physician really intended his audience to take from his tale.

However, does the physician mean to align himself with Claudius? Probably not, he probably is trying to represent himself like the knight Virginius, noble and merciful. In actuality he is very similar to Claudius, though, because they are both involved in conspiracies with only one other person, and succeed are not punished for reaching these dishonorable ends. It's ironic that their likeness is so apparent yet the physician still allies himself with the honorable knight.

Additionally, after the physician tells his tale, the host is sufficiently disgusted that he says, "[Your story] gave me heart disease, or very near/ By corpus bones! I'll need a dose, I fear…I'm lost in pity for that poor girl dead." Is it possible that he tells such nauseating tale to do exactly that- Nauseate the listeners? Maybe this influences the style of his tales- and he can actually physically sicken his audience. Has it become so much a part of him to make people sick, or believe that they are sick?

The tale was pretty short and not terribly deep, so maybe storytelling isn't really the physician's strength. Basically, the story focuses on the schemes of Apius and Claudius, who are no more than one-dimensional villains. Some sources said that the Physician's Tale was extremely similar to two other stories from the Canterbury Tales- The Clerk's Tale and the Man of the Law's Tale- just shallower, and some went so far as to say it was the worst Canterbury Tale. The prologue says that the physician was brilliant in medicine and astronomy, and that he spent hours watching the stars. It seems that he was sort of a hermit when not treating his patients, so maybe his storytelling skills aren't quite up to par with the rest on the pilgrimage. Additionally Chaucer was definitely bias he didn't put the knight on the same level as the miller, and from the prologue, it is obvious that he didn't see the physician as a very morally reputable character. I think Chaucer consciously made the Physician's Tale short, simple, and grotesque. If the other tales were so much better (and just from hearing the plots in presentations, I think it is fair to say that they are), I think that it reflects his interpretation of these figures in medieval society, not his talent (or lack thereof) for writing.

The Physician's Tale is a satire of the medieval physician. It portrays the doctor as dishonest and deceitful. The tale itself, through it's telling, indirectly portrays the physician as shallow and, although he is well read, small-minded. In comparison with, for example, the Knight's Tale or the Man of the Law's tale, which are intellectual and complicated, with many characters and parts, the Physician's Tale is a good representation of the Chaucer's cynical views of much of medieval society.

Eudora Welty invokes powerful symbolism in her short story "Livvie." She expresses life and death symbolically through her characters and through the settings in which they interact. Welty also gives Solomon a characterization of being a deity a god that is all knowing and is in control of his world. His strict, dominating reign keeps Livvie in his power until the end.

Life and death symbols are encountered repeatedly in this short story. The title, "Livvie," indicates the vibrant life of the protagonist, Livvie. She is a youth for "she was sixteen and only a girl, then… while nine years went by … and she was still young." The story [remove "in"] takes place in the spring and everything there offers a sense of newness. The "snow white curtains," white is a color for purity and freshness, the "spring winds", and even Cash in his "springy steps" inform the reader that life is in the air. It also gives foreshadowing of what is to come, the birth a new beginning. As the reader "nears the end of the story, it becomes apparent that Easter is coming, which is significant of rebirth. Cash indicates the coming holiday when he exclaims, "I ready for Easter!" In contrast to spring and Livvie's youth is Solomon in his representation of winter and death. One of the lines that establishes this distinction is "if she is choosing winter, would she pine for spring." In addition, "a lace bed spread belonged on the bed" yet he slept under a quilt "what Solomon's mother made." The quilt is a representation of winter, cold, and death and also a longing for his mother as his days grow short. Moreover, Solomon's name implies the role he plays in the story

Throughout our lives we see many relationships get started up, and at the same time we witness the breaking up of these relationships. Trust, communication, equality, and respect become key factors essential to a relationship, positioned in your way of thought in ways like parents, school, church, TV, friends, self experience and more. Equality is the one thing that at times, voluntarily or not, gets pushed out of sight giving way to specific gender roles. More harmful than not, is how these inscribed roles can be the cause to end a relationship.

In the article "Who's Cheap?" Adair Lara speaks of how while women have the desire to be treated equally to men, they associate men as the ones responsible for taking care of the economical part of the relationship. Adair doesn't agree to this idea, and she goes through her reading showing and poising examples on how this is a double standard. At a time, I found myself involved in this false notion of being a gentleman, and sought for a high maintenance relationship, and a girl that would want me buying her whatever she wanted. This whole idea and belief was reorganized when I met a girl, a very independent girl.

Her name was Jalena, and before her I had never been asked out on a date, yet alone have a girl pay for my movie ticket, dinner tab, and have her also be the driver. Overcoming that initial uncomfortable feeling was an overwhelming feeling that fulfilled, and came over me. In the opposite sex situation, Adair has a "bracing encounter with her own values" (6) when her friend Danny tells her "As a woman, you are so genetically precious that you deserve

attention just because you grace the planet. So, of course, he should buy you drinks, He should also drive the car, open the door, ask you to dance, coax you to bed. And then when you feel properly pampered, you can let out that little whine about how he doesn't treat you as an equal." (6) Through this experience Adair should not completely disregard men of doing things for her, but at the same time consider taking part in these kinds of things for it would strengthen the relationship.

The "double standard" (5) of the male having to pay for everything surely is the mind set of many females, but you find yourself asking where did equality go running off to this time? This was exactly the case in a more resent relationship of mine; not that I now dread paying for a date, and thus why the relationship did not work, but when this double standard took its place in our relationship, it gradually ended it. Adair's Friend Skye "…broke up with her boyfriend because when they went to the movies he doled out M&Ms to her one at a time." (6) Sure, maybe he should have been giving her hand fills, or even giving them to her in her mouth. But I did not read of Skye ever giving him M&Ms, or doing any relative kind of favors for him.

So should the wellbeing of a relationship in the sense of equality be the responsibility of the male? I cohere with no, and as times change, and women seek equality amongst the world, a sense of equality amongst relationships should also be found. This has already been seen to take its toll amongst the newer generations, and it will not be long until it is seen as essential for a relationship, and the old ways become irrelevant.
